He called for nations to stay on the \u201cright\u201d path by continuing to engage in the global economy, describing international participation as a way to \u201creshape the rules and order.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Li refrained from addressing specific issues such as the escalating U.S.-China trade tensions or the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. Still, his comments carried broad implications as global trade faces renewed uncertainty due to rising tariffs, regional instability, and shifting alliances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The premier also pointed to recent diplomatic milestones, such as the signing of the \u201cConvention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation\u201d by more than 30 countries in Hong Kong. He framed the initiative as a reflection of Eastern approaches to dispute resolution and international diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting on Li\u2019s remarks, Columbia University historian Adam Tooze said the notion of \u201creshaping the rules and order\u201d suggests a \u201cpluralization\u201d of global governance structures. \u201cWhat\u2019s needed is more emphasis on processes, not just who sets the rules,\u201d he told CNBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Premier Li maintained a positive outlook on China\u2019s economy, signaling that the country is not only a global manufacturing hub but also evolving into a \u201cmega-sized consumption powerhouse.\u201d He emphasized the government\u2019s intention to implement measures to support domestic demand and drive consumption-led growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Louise Loo, lead China economist at Oxford Economics, said Li\u2019s comments indicated \u201cconfidence in the organic growth momentum within China.\u201d While acknowledging ongoing challenges, she noted that China\u2019s competitive position in global supply chains remains intact despite tariff headwinds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDecoupling from China is difficult in the short term,\u201d Loo said, adding that exports would likely continue to support the country\u2019s growth trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Premier Li\u2019s speech comes after a week of high-level diplomatic meetings with leaders from Singapore, Vietnam, New Zealand, Ecuador, and Kyrgyzstan. The conference also hosted top business figures such as JD.com Chairman Liu Qiangdong and TCL Chairman Li Dongsheng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
