It comes just in time for <strong>March Madness<\/strong>, allowing users to wager on NCAA basketball tournament results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe believe in the power of prediction markets and think they play an important role at the intersection of <strong>news, economics, politics, sports, and culture<\/strong>,\u201d said <strong>JB Mackenzie<\/strong>, Robinhood\u2019s GM of Futures and International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Robinhood\u2019s Prediction Markets Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The prediction market operates like a trading platform where users buy <strong>contracts<\/strong> representing different outcomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each contract pays <strong>$1 if the prediction is correct<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prices fluctuate based on <strong>supply, demand, and probability<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For example, in the men\u2019s NCAA tournament, a contract predicting <strong>Purdue<\/strong> winning a game costs <strong>77 cents<\/strong>, paying out <strong>$1<\/strong> if Purdue wins.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underdog <strong>High Point<\/strong> has contracts priced at <strong>25 cents<\/strong>, meaning a win would yield <strong>75 cents profit<\/strong> per contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Robinhood plans to expand its prediction market offerings to include more events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Robinhood\u2019s Growth Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The prediction markets hub is part of Robinhood\u2019s effort to become a <strong>one-stop financial platform<\/strong> for the next generation of investors.
